Why the Band Played at Franklin

From the Confederate Veteran Magazine-1911 a story is found of the incredible charge at Franklin, Tennessee, which took place on November 30, 1864. This battle was for all intents and purposes the end of the Missouri Brigade. After the battle, the remnants of the brigade were sent to Mobile, Alabama and then Fort Blakely, Alabama until the end of the war.  The article explains why the band played during the Confederate charge and in its explanation one gets a glimpse of the incredible bravery of the Missouri Brigade. WHY THE BAND PLAYED AT FRANKLIN. BY S. C. TRIGG, LEBANON, TENN . Comrade Cunningham: In your address at the last anniversary of the battle of Franklin before the Daughters of the Confederacy at that place you spoke of the music on the battlefield on that ever-to-be-remembered 30th of November, i86a. In today’s show originally broadcast on May 19 2018, EuroFolkRadio’s Andrew Carrington Hitchcock interviews Clint Lacy, for a show entitled, “An Analysis Of The Movie Ride With The Devil.” We discussed: Clint’s recent articles for The Barnes Review and the American Free Press; the Wikipedia description of the, “Ride With The Devil,” movie, and the flaws in their description; why the studio who distributed this film limited its’ distribution, with no regard for the fact that the studio subsequently lost money on the movie; Clint’s synopsis of the movie; how Quantrill was not the barbarian that he was portrayed in the movie, and was actually a strict disciplinarian who saved many lives; the differences between the movie and the documented historical account of what actually occurred; how fortunately the historical accuracy of the movie outweigh its’ inaccuracies; how Hollywood’s primary purpose is spreading propaganda; the ongoing censorship on YouTube; how to protect yourself fr

Southerners considered Missouri One of Their Own

Throughout mainstream history it has been taught that both Kentucky and Missouri were "Border States" despite the fact that they were recognized by the Confederate government as being part of their new country. J.M. Hubbard a member of Company E , 7th Tennessee Regiment , Forrest's Cavalry Corps writes in his book "Notes of a Private" that: "We were to be a part of Pillow's Army of Occupation, and to that end, we went aboard the steamer Ohio with orders to debark at New Madrid, Mo. Soon there came a great victory to McCulloch and Price at Oak Hill, and some folks said that we would march straight to St. Louis. We reported to General M. Jeff Thompson of the Missouri State troops, forty miles in the interior. Though Missouri was a Southern State, we soon began to feel that we were bordering on the enemy's country. We had hurriedly gone forward without our wagon train and were somewhat dependent upon the Missourians for rations. When our Captain
